Why go mobile – four fast facts

Tech is changing the way we find information, connect with people, travel and shop. Businesses are increasingly under pressure to budget for website development, digital marketing, social media management and mobile payment tools. One of the biggest consumer trends in recent years has been the migration from desktop, laptop and tablet devices to browsing, chatting and buying through smart mobile phones.

Here are four reasons to get an m-store for your business:

  1. People are ditching desktops in favour of phones: In January 2017, We Are Social released a report that showed a 30% increase in web traffic from mobile phones, with a 20% decrease on laptops and desktops.
  2. Apps sell more: 25% of the world’s leading internet retailers saw 50% of their sales from mobile over the past year. The Criteo report shows that apps are delivering double the user retention power of websites, with m-store customers more likely to purchase in-app than on any other online retail platform.
  3. Africa is into mobile: The Middle East and Africa have the highest mobile data traffic growth in the world – a whopping 96% in 2016, according to the Cisco Visual Networking Index.
  4. Saffas trust commerce apps: South Africans are trusting of mobile transactions. A survey by Avaya found that out of nine countries, South Africans are most partial to mobile banking apps – beating preference rates in India, the UAE, France and Germany.

With the above in mind – a team of locally based developers have created an m-commerce app called Chat Find. It delivers a mobile shopfront, from which customers can browse products and services, as well as purchase in-app. Similar to sites like Ebay, which allows users to own and brand a virtual retail outlet, the app is a free platform for connecting with customers, issuing invoices and completing sales.

Chat Find is available on IOS and Android. It takes minutes to download, set up a store and start sending out posts to plug what you have to offer. The app’s algorithms are set to prioritise local businesses, or the search tool will pull info from any business offering what the customer is looking for.
