There are many families in Atlantis and Kalkfontein that cannot afford to wake up to gifts on Christmas morning. Many children miss out on the joy of receiving something special of their own. This is why every year Hope House Counselling Centre rallies the community to give 60 children, between the ages of one and six, a party and their own wrapped gift.
The Cape Town non-profit offers counselling services, play therapy, substance abuse intervention and prevention programmes to some of the most vulnerable children in the city. “We see cases of abuse, depression and trauma all year round – this annual event is an important way to bring some joy to these children,” says Judy Strickland, child counsellor and founder of non-profit Hope House.
Hope House is asking the public for the donations of the following goods:
Toy – age appropriate
Chips – small
Box juice – small
Sweets – small
